Google Gemini Setup
Configure Google Gemini as your AI provider for invoice extraction.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Google account
- Google AI Studio access
- TaprNext admin access
Step 1: Access Google AI Studio
Section titled “Step 1: Access Google AI Studio”- Go to aistudio.google.com
- Sign in with your Google account
- Accept terms of service
Step 2: Generate API Key
Section titled “Step 2: Generate API Key”- Click Get API Key in the left sidebar
- Click Create API Key
- Select a Google Cloud project (or create new)
- Copy the generated key
Step 3: Configure TaprNext
Section titled “Step 3: Configure TaprNext”- Go to Tapr Settings
- Select AI Provider tab
- Choose Google Gemini
- Enter your API key
- Select model: gemini-1.5-pro (recommended)
- Click Save
Step 4: Test Connection
Section titled “Step 4: Test Connection”- Click Test Connection
- Wait for confirmation
- Green checkmark = success

Troubleshooting

Section titled “”API Key Invalid””- Verify key from AI Studio
- Check for extra whitespace
- Ensure key starts with
AIza

Section titled “”Quota Exceeded””- Free tier has limits
- Enable billing in Google Cloud
- Request quota increase
”Region Restricted”
Section titled “”Region Restricted””- Gemini may not be available in all regions
- Use VPN or choose another provider
Cost Estimation
Section titled “Cost Estimation”Google Gemini offers a generous free tier supporting approximately 60 requests per minute. Paid options typically cost $0.005-0.01 per invoice. Most organizations find the free tier sufficient for their needs.
